Women's Tennis Defeats Averett 5-4- Soteres Wins in Singles & Doubles

- Ferrum, Va. -- Senior Becky
Soteres (Atlanta, Ga./Lockhart Academy) won at #1 singles and #1
doubles to help the Panthers pull out a tight 5-4 win over visiting
Averett University this afternoon in USA South action.

doubles partner freshman Natalie
Edmondson (Hamilton, Va./Loudoun Valley) opened the afternoon
with an 8-5 win over Averett's Lauren Wells and Crystal Cauley at #1
doubles. Soteres, pictured here, went on to defeat Wells 6-2, 6-1 at
#1 singles.
Junior Erin
Williams (Montgomery Village, Md./Wooton) won at #2 singles,
defeating Katie English 6-4, 6-2. Freshman Lisa
O'Quinn (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) won a three-set battle
over Averett's Sara Tucker 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3. Senior Lindsey
Laughlin (Bedford, Va./Liberty) won at #6 singles 7-6 (7-2), 6-3
over Christy Renegar.

win, Ferrum evens its record at 2-2 overall and 2-2 in the USA
South. Averett remains winless at 0-4 overall, 0-1 USA South.
