Women's Lacrosse Tops St. Andrew's
Matern, Phillips Lead Panthers to 15-3 Win
 
Ferrum, Va. -- The Ferrum College women's lacrosse team picked up a 15-3 win yesterday at home over St. Andrew's Presbyterian College to even its record at 2-2 this season.

Senior Ginni Matern (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) and junior Jennifer Phillips (Ferrum, Va./Franklin County) scored four goals each to lead the team to the non-conference win.  Matern, pictured here, is Ferrum's leading scorer this season with 11 goals.

Junior Noelle Sanderson (Big Island, Va./Liberty) had three goals, while freshman Natania Lauchengco (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly) had two goals.  Sophomore Heather Baugh (
Leesburg, Va./Herndon) and freshman Latrice Atkins (Fairfax Station, Va./Hayfield) each had a goal to round out the scoring.

Sophomore goalkeeper Mariah Koptis (Richmond, Va./Hermitage) played all 60 minutes in net, making 13 saves and allowing just three goals.  Ferrum led 6-3 at halftime and held St. Andrew's scoreless in the second half.
