Viens Named to Men's Golf Post at Ferrum

Ferrum, Va. -- Director of Athletics Abe Naff announced today that Jeremy Viens has been appointed men's golf coordinator.  Viens replaces Dr. Ted Kinder, who resigned in early January to accept the Athletic Director post at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky.  Kinder had served as Ferrum's athletic director for 10½ years and men's golf coach 4½ years.

Viens is in his second year at the College, serving as Director of Intramurals and Fitness Center Manager.  He also serves as a volunteer assistant coach with the men's basketball team, under Head Coach Ed Wills, and coordinates the College's indoor swimming pool.

Viens came to Ferrum from Syracuse University, where he graduated in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in history and a minor in geography.  While at Syracuse, Viens was a manager for the men's basketball program from 1998-2002.  He served as head manager his last two seasons with the Orangemen, who went on to win the 2003 NCAA Division I men's basketball championship.

An avid golfer, Viens has been playing the sport for the past nine years.  For more information, please contact the Ferrum Sports Information office at (540) 365-4306.
