Cheerleaders Set for Two Competitions
Panthers at "Heavy Hitters" Feb. 14, "Battle at the Capital" Mar. 6-7
 
Ferrum, Va. -- The Ferrum College cheerleading team will be competing at the “Heavy Hitters Challenge” sponsored by Atlantic Cheer and Dance. This event will be held at the Sovereign Bank Arena on Saturday, February 14, 2004 in Trenton, New Jersey.  The Panthers will be competing in the College All-Girl Division.
 
The Ferrum cheerleading team will also be competing at the “Battle at the Capitol Cheerleading and Dance National Championships” sponsored by Atlantic Cheer and Dance. This event will be held at the Patriot Center on the campus of George Mason University on March 6-7 in Fairfax, Virginia. All college teams will compete in the final round of competition on Sunday, March 7. The team will be competing in the College All-Girl Division. This is the first time that the cheerleading team will compete on a national level.
 
In April 2003, the Ferrum College cheerleading team competed at the Busch Gardens Spring Fling Classic in Williamsburg, Virginia.  The Panthers competed in the College/Open All-Girl Division, placing first overall. The event was sponsored by Atlantic Cheer and Dance. Ferrum won their division and earned a spot in the “Battle at the Capitol National Cheerleading Championships” in 2004. This is the first time that Ferrum has qualified for a national championship.
 
Ferrum has not competed in cheerleading since 1996, when it was runner-up at the Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s league championship held in February of 1996 in Winchester, Virginia. Ferrum is lead by Head Coach T.J. Agee, a former Ferrum Cheerleader
