Ferrum Opens '04 Lacrosse Season With Win- Lauchengco Nets Four as Women's Lacrosse Wins 12-10 on Road

- Ferrum, Va. -- Freshman Natania
Lauchengco (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly) had four goals to lead
Ferrum College to a 12-10 non-conference women's lacrosse road win over Hood
College in its season-opener in Frederick, Maryland. Lauchengco, pictured at right,
also had an assist for the Panthers in her collegiate debut.

Sophomore Heather Baugh (Leesburg, Va./Herndon) was solid for
the Panthers, registering three goals. Senior Ginni Matern
(Stafford, Va./North Stafford) and junior Jen Phillips
(Ferrum, Va./Franklin County) had two goals each, while freshman
Kerry Toomey (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) had a single goal.
Phillips also had an assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper Mariah Koptis (Richmond, Va./Hermitage)
played all 60 minutes in net, allowing 10 goals and making 20
saves. Ferrum is now 1-0 with the win, while Hood falls to
0-1.
