Panthers Rip Emory & Henry in Baseball
Gammons, Stockton Hit Home Runs as Ferrum Wins 22-1
 
Ferrum, Va. -- Freshman Matt Gammon (Providence, N.C./Bartlett-Yancey) belted a grand slam home run and senior Donnell Stockton (Martinsville, Va./Fieldale-Collinsville) had a three-run blast to lead Ferrum College to a 22-1 non-conference baseball win at Emory & Henry College in Emory, Virginia.  For Gammon, pictured here, it was his first career home run.

Senior Brandon Hale (Coeburn, Va./Coeburn) went 4-5 on the afternoon, while junior Quincy Davenport (Bedford, Va./Liberty) went 3-6.  Sophomore Jesse Bowles (Boones Mill, Va./Franklin County) got the win on the mound to improve to 1-0.  Bowles allowed three hits and struck out seven to help the Panthers remain undefeated at 5-0.  Emory & Henry falls to 0-3 with the loss.

Ferrum's win streak is at seven games now, dating back to a 13-1 win over Emory & Henry on April 22, 2003.  A box score from the game will be posted on the Ferrum Athletics web site Monday, Feb. 23.  Ferrum will be back in action Tuesday, Feb. 24, at home when they face Lynchburg College at 3 p.m.  For more information,
