Ferrum Splits Doubleheader with Bishops
Panther Women Win, Men Lose
 
Ferrum, Va. -- The Ferrum basketball teams split a USA South Athletic Conference basketball doubleheader this afternoon at home with the women winning 88-60 and the men falling 87-74.

In the women's game, senior Tanisha Durham (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) and junior Angela Vonwergers (Albany, N.Y./Hudson Valley CC), pictured at right, each had 16 points and six rebounds.
 
Freshman Aline Alzime (Leesburg, Va./Stonebridge) had 14 points, senior Shermika Harris (Martinsville, Va./Laurel Park) had 12 points and nine rebounds, and junior Tara Toland (North, S.C./North) had 12 points and eight assists.

The Lady Panthers led 45-33 at halftime and out-rebounded NC Wesleyan 48-30.  Ferrum improves to 14-10 overall and 10-5 in the USA South.  NC Wesleyan falls to 5-16 overall, 2-13 in league play.
 
In the men's game, freshman Kendrick Holley (Winston-Salem, N.C.) led Ferrum with 19 points and eight rebounds.  Senior Kevin Aigbe (Nashville, Tenn./Volunteer State CC) and freshman Rob Fuller (Timberlake, N.C./Person County) had 211 points each, while sophomore Lance Everett (Boonville, N.C./Forbush) had 10 points.
 
The Panthers led 40-37 at halftime, only to see the Bishops out-score them 50-34 from there out.  NC Wesleyan won the battle of the boards47-37.  With the win, NCW improves to 14-10, 7-6 USA South.  Ferrum falls to 8-16 with the loss, 2-11 in the USA South.
