Harris Claims 1,000th Career Rebound
- Panthers Swept by Shenandoah on the Road

- Ferrum, Va. -- The Ferrum College men's and
women's basketball teams suffered a pair of USA South Athletic
Conference road losses at
Shenandoah University tonight in Winchester, Virginia. The women's
team opened the night with a 77-68 loss, followed by the men
falling 99-67.

- In the women's game, senior Shermika
Harris (Martinsville, Va./Laurel Park) collected her 1,000th
career rebound tonight. She closed the night with 12 points
and 16 rebounds. Harris, pictured here, is only the second
player in school history to record 1,000 career rebounds.
Former women's standout Melisa Buchanan had 1,132 career rebounds
from 1997-2000.

- Harris was the Dixie Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the
Year in 2001, earning a spot on the league's All-Conference second
team. She was also named to the Dixie All-Tournament team that
year. A two-sport athlete at Ferrum, Harris also earned a pair
of All-Conference honors in volleyball in 2002 and 2003.
Senior Tanisha
Durham (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) and junior Tara
Toland (North, S.C./North) led Ferrum in scoring with 15 points
each. Freshman Aline
Alzime (Leesburg, Va./Stonebridge) had another fine outing,
scoring 14 points and hauling down 15 rebounds.

- In the men's game, freshman Kendrick
Holley (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and senior Kevin Aigbe (Nashville, Tenn./Volunteer
State CC) led Ferrum with 13 points each. Freshman Darrian
Jones (Maryville, Tenn./Hiwassee JC) added 12 points.

- Ferrum will close our regular season action this weekend by hosting
a pair of USA South doubleheaders. The Panthers host North
Carolina Wesleyan College Saturday, then Chowan College
Sunday. The women's games are set for 2 p.m. both days,
