Ferrum Women Defeat Bridgewater
Men Lose at Salisbury Tournament
 
Ferrum, Va. -- The Ferrum College women's basketball team knocked off previously unbeaten Bridgewater College, 83-72, tonight in non-conference action at home. Two Ferrum players scored over 20 points for the Panthers in the win.

Senior Tanisha Durham (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) led all scorers with 26 points on 12-21 shooting. Junior Tara Toland (North, S.C./North), pictured above, had a double-double with 20 points and 10 assists. Junior Amber Triplett (Bassett, Va./Bassett) chimed in with 11 points and seven assists.

Senior Shermika Harris (Martinsville, Va./Laurel Park) had a solid night with six points, seven rebounds, four blocked shots and four steals. Ferrum led 43-26 at half-time and eventually held a 23-point lead midway through the second half.

Krystal Hermes led Bridgewater with 12 points. Mya Braxton had 11 points, Natalie Swick had 10 points and Katy Herr had six points, 11 rebounds and five steals. With the win Ferrum improves to 3-3, while the Eagles are now 3-1.

Ferrum's men fell 75-64 to the Apprentice School in the first round of the Salisbury University Optimist Classic. Rob Fuller (Timberlake, N.C./Person County) led Ferrum with 23 points. Kendrick Holley (Winston-Salem, N.C./North Forsyth) had 14 points while Kevin Aigbe (Nashville, Tenn./Antioch) had 10 points and seven rebounds

Apprentice had four players in double-digit scoring led by Maze Toomer, who had 22 points and 11 rebounds. Terrence Patrick had 14 points, Reggie Proctor had 11, and Charles Holiday had 10. 
 
Apprentice led 36-23 at half-time and shot 51 percent from the floor. The Panthers shot just 37 percent from the floor. Apprentice improves to 3-3, while Ferrum falls to 3-2.
