Ferrum Men Open with Road Win
Panthers Defeat Huntingdon 70-65 at Georgia Tournament
 
Ferrum, Va. -- The Ferrum College men's basketball team opened the 2003-04 season with a win tonight at the 2003 Great South/USA South Tip-Off Classic, being played Nov. 21-22 at Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia.  
 
The Panthers defeated Huntingdon College 70-65 to open their season at 1-0.  Freshman guard Rob Fuller (Timberlake, N.C./Person Co.), pictured above, led Ferrum with 21 points on 7-12 shooting  in a superb career debut for the Panthers.
 
Senior forward Kevin Aigbe (Nashville, Tenn./Volunteer State CC) had 12 points and eight rebounds in the win.  Freshman forward Kendrick Holley (Winston-Salem, N.C./No. Forsyth) was also solid in his collegiate debut, recording 12 points and six rebounds.  Sophomore center Doug Griffy (Woodstock, Va./C. Woodstock) chimed in with nine points for Ferrum, which led 34-31 at halftime.
 
Ferrum will face tournament host Piedmont College Saturday at 8 p.m.  The Lions were 81-75 winners over Greensboro College in tonight's nightcap.  For more information, please contact the sports information office at (540) 365-4306.
