Basketball Teams Set to Open '04 Season
- Women Host Ferrum Tip-Off Tournament, Men
Travel to Piedmont

- Ferrum, Va. -- The
Ferrum College men's and women's basketball teams will open the
2003-04 season this weekend, Friday and Saturday, November
21-22. The Panther women's team will be at home, hosting the
Ferrum Tip-Off Classic, while the men will be in Demorest,
Georgia, competing in the First Annual Great South/USA South
Tip-Off Classic.

Compete at Great South/USA South Tip-Off Classic
Participating teams in the Ferrum Tip-Off
Tournament will be Alvernia College (Reading, Pa.), Averett
University (Danville, Va.), Ferrum, and Lynchburg College
(Lynchburg, Va.). On Friday, Ferrum will play Alvernia at 6
p.m., followed by the Averett-Lynchburg at 8 p.m. Saturday,
Averett will play Alvernia at 2 p.m., while Ferrum will take on
Lynchburg at 4 p.m.
In the Great South/USA South Tip-Off Classic, participants include
Ferrum, Greensboro College (Greensboro, N.C.), Huntingdon College
(Montgomery, Ala.), and Piedmont. Ferrum will play
Huntingdon Friday at 4 p.m., followed by the Piedmont-Greensboro
game at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Greensboro will face Huntingdon
at 4 p.m., followed by the Ferrum-Piedmont game at 8 p.m.
- The Ferrum women' led by 27th-year Head Coach Donna Doonan are
coming off a 19-8 season in which they won a share of the Dixie
Conference (now the USA South) regular season. The Panthers
return four starters. Ferrum's men are coming off a 7-19
season, including a 7th-place finish in the Dixie. Ferrum
returns two starters. For more
