Ferrum Cross Country Teams Runner-Up at USA South Championships
Two Panthers Earn All-Conference
 
Ferrum, Va. - The Ferrum College men's and women's cross country teams both placed second at the 2003 USA South Athletic Conference Championships, held this afternoon at Hagan-Stone Park in Greensboro, North Carolina.  
 
This is the fourth straight year that Ferrum's women have earned league runner-up honors, while Ferrum's men have earned runner-up finishes three of the past four years (3rd place in 2002).  Both Ferrum teams placed behind team champion Christopher Newport University this afternoon.

Senior Lalita Brim (Ararat, Va./Patrick County) earned her fourth consecutive All-Conference first team award with her 5th-place individual finish.  Brim completed the 6-K course in a time of 22:55.  She is the the first cross country runner in the school's history (male or female) to earn four All-Conference first team awards.

Senior Dwayne Williams (Stuart, Va./Patrick County), pictured at left with Brim, earned a spot on the All-Conference second team for Ferrum's men, finishing the 8-K course in 28:09 to place 10th individually.  Williams is a four-time All-Conference honoree, earning three first team awards prior to this season.
 
 
Both Ferrum teams are led by 7th-year Head Coach Ed Wills.  The Panthers will be back in action at the 2003 NCAA South-Southeast Regional, to be held November 15 in Atlanta, Georgia.  For more information, please contact the Ferrum College sports information office at (540) 365-4306.
