Shenandoah Men Down Ferrum
Aigbe Nets 24 Points in Loss
 
Ferrum, Va.In a makeup game, originally scheduled for January 25, Shenandoah University defeated Ferrum College 76-71 in a USA South Athletic Conference men's basketball game tonight in Ferrum.
 
Sophomore Kenneth Purnell led all scorers with 27 points, going 7-15 from the floor and a perfect 10-10 from the line for Shenandoah.  Junior Chris Jenkins added 11 points for the Hornets.

Senior Kevin Aigbe (Nashville, Tenn./Volunteer State CC) led the Panthers with 24 points on 8-13 shooting from the floor.  Aigbe, pictured, also led Ferrum with 11 rebounds.  He leads the team in scoring and rebounding this season with 13.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
 
Freshman Kendrick Holley (Winston-Salem, N.C./No. Forsyth) had 18 points tonight.  Sophomore Chris Smith (Roanoke, Va./Northside) had 12 points, while freshman Darrian Jones (Maryville, Tenn./Hiwassee JC) had 10.

Shenandoah led 35-28 at halftime, shooting 43 percent from the floor in the first half, while the Panthers shot just under 30 percent.  Despite the loss, Ferrum out-rebounded the Hornets 41-34.  Shenandoah evens its record at 7-7 overall and is 3-2 in the USA South.  Ferrum falls to 7-9, 1-4 in league play.
 
Ferrum will be back in action Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, with a pair of USA South doubleheaders at Chowan College and North Carolina Wesleyan College, respectively.  The women's games begin at 2 p.m. both days, with the men to follow at 4 p.m.  For more information, please contact the Ferrum College sports information office at (540) 365-4306.
