Ferrum Women Stay Perfect in USA South
Alzime Shines in 71-58 Road Win Over Greensboro
 
Ferrum, Va. – The Ferrum College women's basketball team posted a 71-58 win over Greensboro College on the road tonight to remain perfect at 4-09 in the USA South Athletic Conference.  The Ferrum men were not as fortunate, falling 64-51 to the pride in the nightcap.

Freshman Aline Alzime (Leesburg, Va./Stonebridge), pictured above, led the Panthers in both scoring for the second consecutive game, with a game-high 23 points.  In last Saturday's 70-69 road win over Methodist College, Alzime had 22 points and 12 rebounds.
 
Senior Tanisha Durham (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) had 20 points and nine rebounds.  Durham now has 1,353 career points and needs 31 to tie and 32 to break Ferrum's career scoring mark.  All-American and 2003 graduate Tina McBride, who scored 1,384 career points from 2000-03, currently holds the record.
 
Senior Shermika Harris (Martinsville, Va./Laurel Park) had a huge night on the boards, collecting 19 rebounds for the Panthers.  Harris, who also had seven points, is the league's leading rebounder at 11.8 per game.  Ferrum improves to 8-5 overall, 4-0 in the league.

In the men's game, senior Kevin Aigbe (Nashville, Tenn./Volunteer State) led the Panthers with 18 points and nine rebounds.  The loss evens Ferrum's overall mark at 7-7, 1-2 in the USA South.

Ferrum hosts a pair of USA South basketball doubleheaders this weekend.  On Saturday, Jan. 24, the Panthers host Christopher Newport University, followed by a home doubleheader against Shenandoah University on Sunday.  The women's games tip off at 2 p.m., with the men's games set to begin at 4 p.m. both days.
