- Ferrum Splits USA South Basketball Doubleheader

- Ferrum, Va. – Ferrum College split a USA South Athletic Conference basketball doubleheader
this afternoon with Methodist College, with the women winning 70-69
and the men losing 82-79 in overtime in Fayetteville, N.C.

- In the women's game, freshman Aline
Alzime (Leesburg, Va./Stonebridge), pictured here, led the
Panthers in both scoring and rebounding with 22 points and 12
rebounds. Junior Tara
Toland (North, S.C./North) added 19 points, eight assists, and
six steals to keep the Panthers unbeaten in the USA South at
3-0. Senior Shermika Harris
(Martinsville, Va./Laurel Park) had 12 rebounds to go with nine
points and a pair of blocked shots.
In
the men's game, senior Kevin
Aigbe (Nashville, Tenn./Volunteer State) led all scorers with
31 points on9-14 shooting from the floor. Aigbe also had 11
rebounds, was a near-perfect 12-13 from the line and blocked a
shot. Freshman Kendrick
Holley (Winston-Salem, N.C./North Forsyth) added 12 points,
while sophomore Chris
Smith (Roanoke, Va./Northside) had 11. Smith was 3-5 from behind the three-point line.
With the win, Ferrum's women improve to 7-5 overall and 3-0
in the USA South, while Methodist falls to 4-6, 1-1 in league
play. Methodist's men improve to 5-7 (1-1 USA South), while
Ferrum is now 7-6 overall and 1-1 in the league.

January 20, in another USA South doubleheader. The women's game is set to
begin at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow at 7:30 p.m. in
