- Cox Earns All-State Honor in Softball
- Third Baseman Nabs Second All-State Honor

- Ferrum, Va. -- Just one week after earning
being named to the VaSID Academic All-State Honorable Mention
Team, Ferrum College junior third
baseman Lindsay
Cox (Waldorf, Md./LaPlata) has been named to the 2003 VaSID
College Division Softball All-State Team. Cox is
listed among the honorable mentions on the All-State team.

2003 Season Honors

- Cox was named to the NCAA
Division III All-Atlantic Region third team this year, as well as
the Dixie Conference All-Conference first team. She batted .333 (38-114)
this season with one double, four
triples, one home run, and 15 RBI. Cox scored 19
runs, was 3-4 in stolen bases, and had a .957 fielding percentage
from her spot at third base. She was Ferrum's team
Defensive Player of the Year this season.

- While this is Cox's first All-State honor, she has earned All-Conference three
straight years at Ferrum (first team in 2003, second
team in 2002 & 2001). She helped Ferrum win last year's
Dixie Conference Tournament, earning the Panthers their first-ever
trip to the NCAA Division III playoffs, eventually placing third at the Atlantic
Regionals.

- Cox has been named to the Dixie Academic All-Conference team the
past two seasons, and is expected to be this year as well when the
league announces the 2002-03 team sometime in the next few weeks.
She is majoring in biology at Ferrum, with minors in chemistry
and environmental science. Cox is the daughter of Jesse and
Dawn Cox of Waldorf, Maryland.
