Senior Mickey Russell (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest), pictured here, made his only base hit of the day count, knocking an RBI single to score sophomore Quincy Davenport (Bedford, Va./Liberty).  With two outs in the bottom of the 11th, Davenport singled, stole second, then scored on Russell's single to center field.  Junior Thomas Meeks (Rocky Mount, Va./Franklin County) went 3-4 with a double and a run.

Starting pitcher sophomore Mike Tonzola (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) scattered seven hits over 8.2 innings with five strikeouts and five walks.  Tonzola was last year's Dixie Rookie Pitcher of the Year.  Junior Carlos Sanchez (Stanleytown, Va./Bassett) got the win in relief, allowing no hits in the last 2.1 innings, striking out two and walking none.  Sanchez improves to 6-2 on the mound with the win.

Jesus Adames, James Ross, and Kevin Johnson each had a pair of base hits for Methodist.  The Panthers improve to 27-4 with the win, while the Monarchs are now 23-12.  Ferrum will play in the last game of the day today against today's Averett University vs. Christopher Newport University winner.
