Softball Players Earn All-Conference
Porter Earns All-Conference at Pitcher and Designated Player
 
Ferrum, Va. -- Two Ferrum College softball players have been named to the Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's 2003 Al-Conference softball team.  The voting was done this morning in a conference call among the league's sports information directors.
 
Sophomore Stacy Porter (Radford, Va./Radford) earned first team All-Conference at the designated player spot, and was a second team selection as a pitcher.  This is Porter's second All-Conference honor, having earned first team honors as a pitcher last year.
 
Porter, pictured at right, is currently batting .419 this season with 10 home runs, two triples, four home runs, and 22 RBI.  She also has a 1.44 ERA in 92.1 innings on the mound.  Porter has an 8-6 record with 122 strikeouts this season.

Junior Lindsay Cox (Waldorf, Md./LaPlata) has been named to the All-Conference first team at third base.  She is batting .373 with a double, 4our triples, one home run, and 15 RBI.  This is Cox's third All-Conference honor, having earned second team honors the past two years.
 
Ferrum heads into the 2003 Dixie Conference Tournament this weekend in Tarboro, North Carolina, with a 17-14 overall record.  The Panthers finished 5-9 in the Dixie.  Results will be posted on the Ferrum athletics web site throughout the weekend.  For more information, contact the sports information office at (540) 365-4306.
