- Baseball, Lacrosse All-Conference Teams
Announced
- Jason Beale Wins Pitcher of the Year, Abe Naff Coach of the
Year in Baseball

- Ferrum, Va. -- The Dixie Conference
Baseball and Lacrosse All-Conference teams were announced today
with Ferrum College athletes being well represented on both teams.

- Senior Jason
Beale (Charlottesville, Va./W. Albemarle) headlines a group of
four Panthers on the All-Conference baseball team. Beale,
pictured here, was
selected the Pitcher of the Year and also made the All-Conference as a designated
hitter and pitcher. As a pitcher, Beale
is 9-0 with a 1.97 earned run average and 62 strikeouts in 73
innings of work. From the plate he is batting .489 with six
home runs and 32 RBI.

- Joining Beale on the 1st Team are senior second
baseman Mickey
Russell (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) and junior first
baseman Thomas
Meeks (Rocky Mount, Va./Franklin County). Russell is
batting .327 for the season with nine doubles, two home runs, and
22 stolen bases. Meeks is hitting .426 with nine home runs
and 36 runs batted in.

- Senior third baseman Neil Zimmerman
(Vinton,
Va./William Byrd) earned a spot on the 2nd Team.
Zimmerman is batting .383 with six doubles and one home run on the
season.

- Head Coach Abe Naff received the Dixie Conference
Coach of the Year award. The Panthers are currently 25-3
this season, with a 10-2 mark in the conference. Ferrum won
the Dixie regular season title. Naff has a career record of
531-180-1 at Ferrum.

- In women's lacrosse, senior Carrie
Conques (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI) and junior Ginni
Matern (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) both earned second team All-Conference honors. Conques led the Panthers
in goals scored with 29 this season, while Matern was second on
