Ferrum Baseball Tops NC Wesleyan
Panther Offense, Bishop Miscues Lead to Dixie Conference Win
 
Ferrum, Va. -- The Ferrum College Baseball team picked up a 16-4 Dixie Conference victory over visiting North Carolina Wesleyan College this evening.
 
The Bishops opened up the game with three runs in the top of the first inning, only to see the Panthers rally back to score five in their half of the first and break the game open with an eight run third inning.
 
Jason Beale (Charlottesville, Va./W. Albemarle), pictured here, improved to 9-0 on the season by going eight innings.  He allowed four runs on nine hits, while striking out eight.
 
Thomas Meeks, Mickey Russell, and Kevin Griffin each hit a home run for Ferrum.  Beale, and Griffin were both 2-4.  Meeks finished with four runs batted in, Griffin and Russell drove in three each, while Beale knocked in two. 
 
For NC Wesleyan, Chance Bishop, Cale Strickland, and Stephen Carver each recorded two hits.  The Bishops were haunted by nine fielding errors.  Mark Dexter absorbed the loss.
 
Ferrum improves to 24-3, 9-2 Dixie, while NC Wesleyan falls to 14-19, 3-8.  The teams meet again tomorrow, April 13th at 2:00 p.m. in Ferrum.  For more information contact the Sports Information Offices at (540) 365-4306.
