Ferrum Routs Averett in Dixie Women's Lacrosse- Conques Scores Six Goals as Panthers Win 13-2

- Ferrum, Va. -- The Ferrum College women's
lacrosse team picked up its second win of the season this
afternoon with a 13-2 Dixie Conference win on the road over
Averett University. The win improves Ferrum to 2-3 this
season and evens its record to 1-1 in the Dixie.

- Senior attack Carrie Conques (Fairfax,
Va./Paul XI) led the Panthers with six goals. Conques,
pictured here, is Ferrum's all-time scoring leader with over 100
career goals. She leads the team this season with 20 goals,
and is the Dixie Conference's scoring leader with 4.0 goals per
game.

- Junior attack Ginni Matern (Stafford,
Va./North Stafford) also had a hat trick for the Panthers,
registering three goals and assisting on another. Sophomore
midfielder Noelle Sanderson (Big
Island, Va./Liberty
) had two goals and an assist in the win.
Freshman goalkeeper Mariah Koptis (Richmond, Va./Hermitage
) had 10 saves, playing all 60 minutes in net. Through
five games this season, Koptis has made 26 saves and has a 9.84
goals-against average.

- The loss drops Averett, a first-year lacrosse program to 0-4
overall and 0-2 in the Dixie. Ferrum plays next at
Randolph-Macon College April 28th at 4 p.m. in non-conference
