- Ferrum Football Players Named All-Region
- Venable Earns First Team Honors

- Ferrum, Va. – Two Ferrum College
football players have been named to the 2002
Don Hansen's Football Gazette NCAA Division III All-South Region
team.

- Sophomore defensive back Darren
Venable (Covington, Va./Covington) has been named to the
All-South Region first team, while senior linebacker Kelvin
Fuller (Norfolk, Va./Fork Union) was a third team selection.
Venable, pictured above, had 99 tackles this season, including 38
solo and seven for loss. He also made four interceptions for
52 yards, blocked a punt which resulted in a Ferrum safety and
blocked an extra point attempt.

Venable
was a first team All-Conference selection in the Dixie
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference this season, as well as the
2002 Dixie Conference Defensive Player of the Year. As
a first team selection, Venable is now eligible for the Football
Gazette's All-America team, to be announced in the next few weeks.
Fuller, pictured at left, made 96 tackles, including 40 solo and
six for loss. He also recorded one sack and blocked a field
goal attempt. Fuller was a Dixie All-Conference selection
this year for the second straight year. He was a four-time
All-Conference first team selection for Ferrum, having earned the
honor in the Atlantic Central Football Conference in 1999 and 2000
prior to Ferrum's competition in Dixie football competition.

- Ferrum closed out the 2002 season at 5-5 overall,
winning a share of the Dixie football title at 5-1 in league
play. It was Ferrum's second straight Dixie football
