- Football Pair Earns Dixie Laurels
- Holmes, Dailey Named Offensive Player & Rookie of
the Week
-
- Ferrum, Va. – Two Ferrum College football
players have been named Dixie Conference Players of the Week for their
part in last week’s 25-13 come-from-behind road win over Greensboro
College Nov. 2 on the road.
-
- Junior fullback Moncrief
Holmes (Yorktown, Va./York) has been named Dixie Football Offensive
Player of the Week. Against Greensboro, Holmes rushed eight times for 84
yards and a touchdown, averaging 10.5 yards per carry. His 66-yard
touchdown run early in the fourth quarter proved to be the winning score
for the Panthers, who faced a 13-10 deficit at one point in the game.
Holmes, pictured here, is Ferrum’s leading rusher this year. Through
eight games, Holmes has 69 carries for 456 yards and three touchdowns,
averaging 6.6 yards per carry.
-
- Freshman running back Adrian
Dailey (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Boyd Anderson) has been named Dixie
Football Offensive Rookie of the Week. Dailey rushed 12 times for 74 yards
and a touchdown, averaging 6.2 yards per carry. He has played in seven of
Ferrum’s eight games, rushing 23 times for 142 yards and a pair of TDs.
-
- Ferrum is 5-3 overall and sits atop the Dixie Conference
standings with a perfect 5-0 mark against league opponents. The Panthers
have already won at least a share of the Dixie title. Ferrum hosts
Salisbury University this Saturday in a non-conference game. Coach
Dave Davis’ team then travels to Newport News, Virginia, for a showdown
with Christopher Newport University in a game that will likely decide who
earns the Dixie's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III playoffs. For
