Embick, Fuller Earn Dixie Honors
Pair Named Offensive & Defensive Players of the Week

Ferrum, Va. - Senior quarterback Kevin Embick (Jupiter, Fla./William T. Dwyer) and senior linebacker Kelvin Fuller (Norfolk, Va./Fork Union) have been named Dixie Conference Offensive Player of the Week and defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for their roles in last Saturday's non-conference game against #17 Salisbury University.

Embick, pictured at right, was 14-23 passing for 200 yards and one touchdown.  The 200 yards is a career-high for Embick.  He currently leads the Dixie in  passing efficiency with a 102.3 rating, is second in TD passes with five, and is fourth in passing with 85.1 yards per game.  Through nine games, Embick is 55-of-125 passing for 766 yards with five TDs and four interceptions.

Fuller, pictured at left, led the Ferrum defense with 14 tackles against Salisbury.  He is the Dixie's leader in tackles per game with an 11.0 per game average.  Fuller is also second in total tackles in the Dixie with 88, including 36 solo stops and 52 assisted.  He has six tackles for loss, a sack, and a blocked kick.  In each of his first three season at Ferrum, Fuller has been the Panthers' leading tackler.  His career numbers include 171 career solo tackles, 179 assisted tackles and 350 total tackles.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday, November 16, when they face Christopher Newport University in Newport News to see who will earn the league's NCAA Division III automatic berth.  At 5-0 in league play, Ferrum has already locked up a share of the regular-season title.  A win by Ferrum would give it the outright title and send the Panthers to the NCAA playoffs.  CNU is 4-1 in league play and a win would give it a share of the regular season title and would send the Captains to the NCAA playoffs.

Last season, the same exact scenario presented itself as the two teams prepared to meet each other in the 2001 Khedive Shriners Oyster Bowl.  CNU won the game 14-11 in Hampton and claimed the league's NCAA playoff spot in just its first season of collegiate football.  For more information, contact the Ferrum College Sports Information Office at 365-4306.
