- Harris Scores 28 as Ferrum Men Upend Averett
- Sophomore Sizzles in Dixie Conference Opener

sophomore forward Justin
Harris (Danville, Va./George Washington) exploded for 28
points as the Panthers
defeated Averett University 83-78 in the Dixie
Conference opener for both schools.

- Harris, pictured at right, went 12-16 from the floor and 4-7
from the line, and pulled down 12 rebounds. He is Ferrum's
leading scorer and rebounder this season, averaging 16.4 points
and 8.6 rebounds through Ferrum's first 11 games.

- Harris has
scored in double figures seven times this season, including five 20+ point
games. He was ranked 9th in the nation in NCAA Division
III field goal percentage (.655) coming into tonight's game.

- Freshmen Jamaal
Eatmon (Raleigh,
N.C./Broughton)
and Chris
Jackson (Clayton, N.C./Garner) each had 11 points for
Ferrum. Jackson was successful on three of nine three-point
field goal attempts tonight, and is shooting 45 percent from
behind the arc this season. Jackson came into tonight's game
tied for 5th in the nation in three-point field goal percentage
(.500).

- Ferrum is now 4-7 overall and 1-0 in the Dixie,
while Averett falls to 1-10 overall and 0-1 in league play.
