Salisbury Gets By Villa Julie 11-5
FERRUM, Va. - Salisbury University, the #2 seed
at the NCAA Ferrum Baseball Regional broke a scoreless tie in the
third inning with eight runs, and held on for an 11-5 win over #7
Villa Julie College.
Pete Calahan hit a three-run home run for Salisbury (33-8) in the
third inning. Colin Kraus, Andrew Jensen, and Justin Armiger
each had a pair of base hits for the Sea Gulls.
Villa Julie scored four of its five runs in the fourth inning, two
of which came on a Buddy Breidenbaugh homer. Griffin Stewart
was the onlu Mustang with multiple hits, going 2-4 with double, a
run and an RBI.
Reliever Adam Keeling got the win for Salisbuty. He allowed
one hit in 5.1 innings of relief with one earned run,,
striking out four and walking none. Starter Wade Keeling
absorbed the loss for Villa Julie. He scattered 11 hits over
six innings, allowed nine earned runs, struck out six and walked
one.
The rain delay in game two of the tournament forced tournament
officials to alter the schedule. The day two schedule for
Thursday, May 17 is as follows:
Game 4: 10:00 am, #1 Emory vs. Bridgewater
Game 5: 1:15 pm, #3 York vs. #7 Villa Julie
Game 6: 4:30 pm, #2 Salisbury vs. #6 Ferrum
Game 7: 7:45 pm, #4 Methodist vs. Loser Game 4
