Artist's Statement I am a generalist in terms of the use of media incorporated in my work. I believe that everything has the potential to become art material. The works on display are more traditional art materials -- clay and paint; they are meant to illustrate how my early experiences with ceramics bridged my development into painting. This discovery has opened the door to my exploration into other media possibilities. Dwellings, coconuts, boats, vessels, bridges, waterways, mountains and dogs are some of the subjects represented in this exhibit. The images are meant to be whimsical and contemplative in tone, autobiographical yet universal in aim. The works are a sampling from my database of personal stories, epiphanies, experiences and observations. |
