Two Women, Two Friends, Multi Media Works

September 6 - October 1, 2004

     Ferrum College will host the talents of two-multi media artists for the “Two Women, Two Friends” exhibit on the Ferrum campus. An artist mixer/reception for artists Nell J. Frederickson and Darcy Meeker will be held from 2:00-5:00 in the E. Taylor Greer Gallery at Ferrum on September 18, where the artists will be available to discuss their work. The reception is open to the community. The exhibition will continue until October 1st, 2004.   Admission to the exhibit is free to the public.
     
      Nell J. Frederickson is a stain glass designer, potter, and custom jeweler whose work in “Two Women, Two Friends, Multi Media” references her time in Bolivia, where Frederickson studied. Frederickson has an undergraduate degree in Biology and Masters in Zoology. She studied pottery and stained glass, landing two apprenticeships, one of which with Smith Mountain Lake potter Anne Kennedy.
     
      Darcy Meeker is a prominent and gifted sculptor from Roanoke, VA.  Meeker works in a variety of sculptural media, including copper, stone, and clay. In this show her sculptures include masks and copper creations.
