Elizabeth (Ibby) T. Greer

Biographical Profile

I was born in 1950, the middle daughter of three sisters, in Springfield, Illinois and was educated at Catholic and private schools in Illinois and south Florida, graduating from the Westover School in Connecticut in 1968, from Hollins College in 1972 with College and Departmental Honors and Phi Beta Kappa, with a triple major of English, Philosophy, and Sociology. I received my M.A. in Comparative Literature (18th Century French, German, and English Novel) from the University of Colorado in 1974. With my first husband, I studied German at the University of Vienna in 1976, had son Andrew Taylor Call in 1981, amicably divorced in 1983. Moved to Roanoke in 1985, married T. Keister Greer in 1990 and moved to Rocky Mount. I have served on 18 civic boards in Virginia, am a member of Roanoke’s First Baptist Church, have been published by Brunswick Publishing, with “Moving Day, A Season of Letters” (2001) and “Paper Faces, Babyboomer Memoir” (2002). After “9/11” I retired from my civic work and opened The Blue Lady Bookshop in Rocky Mount in February of 2002. Other interests include genealogy, gardening, needlepoint, and creating family photo albums.
