TALL TALES AFRICAN AMERICAN TALES Animal Tales Index

This page is an alphabetical list by title of all the tales on the bibliography pages of AppLit's Annotated Index of Appalachian Folktales and tales reprinted in AppLit's Fiction and Poems section. The links above will take you to lists of the same tales on the main index page, grouped within these categories. Tale titles vary widely and these main index pages do not list the exact title of every picture book adaptation or tale in a collection that has parallels with a better known tale. Other folktales not in this Annotated Index can be found in collections, recordings, journals and web sites, many of which are listed in other AppLit bibliographies. Related tales from other regions and cultures are included at the bottom of each individual bibliography page of the Annotated Index but not listed on these index pages if their titles differ from the Appalachian variants. Use the Ferrum College search page for more detailed searches in AppLit.
