Dear Panther Alum:

  The Ferrum College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Alumni Association together are seeking your assistance in identifying deserving individuals for induction into the Alumni Sports Hall of Fame.

  As you know, the Hall of Fame was established in 1994 to honor former outstanding athletes who exemplify the character of this institution.   Current Alumni Sports Hall of Fame members are: Linda Perdue, Ed George, Hal Baird, David Hobbs, Larry Robinson, Hank Norton, the "Ferrum 8", Bo Henson, Dennis Craddock, Marny Richardson, Rock Perdoni, Cynthia Warring, Richard Barrett, Slick Andrews, Jerry Little, Jud Mason, Murrie Bates, Jim McGinnis, Bill Booker, Richard Foutz, Charlie Tysinger, Steve Robinson, Bobby Watson, Roy Clark, Barbara Lewis, Kenneth "Skinny" Journell, Wilmer Leatherman, John Rose, Earl "Bud" Skeens, Raymond Warlick, Jr., inducted posthumously, Dr. James A. Davis, Joe Davis, Gene Evans, Debra Hayes, John Quinn, Sam Webb, David Harper, Chris Warren, Jeffrey Lee "Mickey" Hardy, Paul E. Pope Sr., Louis F. Santospago, Donnie L. Brown, Don Meredith, James Charles Schubert, Edward H. Witt, U. Grant Hudson, inducted posthumously, J. Carol Sandidge, Jim Grobe, Jimmy Huff, Eric Owens, Lu Merritt, Jr., Joel DeBoe, Horace Green, Kris Kahila, Billy Wagner, and Ray Corron.

  Nominations for the induction ceremony are being taken at this time.   If there are individuals whom you wish to present for consideration, please submit detailed biographical information by March 15, 2004.   It is very important that as much information as possible be included with the nomination, including playing records/statistics, athletic honors, and continuing achievements and service, since committee members must rely on information presented to them.   Individuals nominated but not selected may be considered again in subsequent years.   In order to be considered, nominees should:

•  Exemplify the highest ideals of small college athletics, sportsmanship, and the spirit of Ferrum's motto, "Not Self, But Others."

•  Have excelled in one or more sports while at Ferrum College, and then have gone on to achieve significant success in a career field.

•  Be an alumnus or alumna of Ferrum College. (If not a Ferrum graduate, nominee should have attended Ferrum for three or more semesters.   The selection committee and the Alumni Board of Directors also may induct honorary alumni into the Hall of Fame.)

•  Have graduated or transferred from Ferrum College at least 10 years prior to nomination.

  It is with your participation that the selection committee can choose the "best of the best" for induction into the Alumni Sports Hall of Fame.   Please submit all nominations and supporting materials to Ferrum College Alumni Office, P.O. Box 1000, Ferrum, VA 24088-9000 or email alumni@ferrum.edu.   Thank you for your interest in ensuring that distinguished persons are honored in our Hall of Fame.
