26TH ANNUAL CORRON CLASSIC PANTHER OPEN GOLF TOURNAMENT

12 Noon – Registration • 1 pm – Shot-gun start

Captain’s Choice Tournament • Tournament Fee: $100 per player

Celebrating its 26th year this annual fund-raiser for the Panther Club (all Ferrum College sports programs) is our most popular tournament of the year! Entry fee will be all inclusive and include cart and greens fees, mulligan, raffle ticket, tournament goodie bag, and post tournament awards ceremony. Registration is required; and you can register as an individual or team. There will be two flights based on average team handicap. Tie breakers will be determined by draw of the cards. Prizes include tournament winner, flight winners, longest drive (women’s, senior’s and men’s), and closest to the pin. All awards will be distributed at the post tournament award ceremony. After the tournament feel free to explore downtown Floyd at the Friday Night Jamboree. For your convenience there will be shuttles for the tournament from Rocky Mount to Floyd. The tournament fills up fast, so register as soon as possible to ensure your place on the roster. Alumni! Families! Visitors! Look for the Alumni Office tent adjacent to Franklin Hall to check in for the weekend.  Pick up your day program, get information about the weekend, and a campus map showcasing the beauty of the Ferrum College campus. Sign in to let others know you have arrived.

Join us for an exciting night of family entertainment with comedian/juggler Adam Kario.  His high energy juggling and comedy routine is proven to be a favorite on many college campuses. Students, families and alumni, join us for an evening of laughter and fun!

VISIT THE BLUE RIDGE INSTITUTE AND FARM MUSEUM

10:00 am – 4:00 pm ● Blue Ridge Institute

Visit the Blue Ridge Institute & Farm Museum and check out the new exhibit Old Ways, New Look: Hand Skills in Transition along with the permanent exhibit The Crooked Road.   The BRI is the State Center for Blue Ridge Folklore and features a living history nineteenth century farm complete with period animals and gardens. 

HOMECOMING TAILGATES

Everyone is welcome! Plan to arrive early to claim your space!

New for this year, FOOD TRUCKS will be at the tailgate so you can purchase food on site or bring your own picnic. Either way, gather your friends and family and don’t forget your cooler and an awning.  Celebrate Homecoming with a traditional tailgate including food, fun, and catching up with classmates and former professors. We’ll supply the space, a children’s entertainment area, a photo booth, music, and lots more!

Once again student groups, fraternities, and organizations will be competing for “The Most Spirited Panther” trophy. Don’t forget to visit their tents and vote on your favorite!

Alumni 1966 and prior and their families please join us to welcome the class of 1967 for their 50th reunion. Golden Panther Chair, Jim Clark ’62, will welcome the group and give an update on upcoming Golden Panther gatherings and the club project. Meet a Golden Panther Endowed Scholarship recipient and hear more about how this most active alumni group is supporting the new generation of Ferrum Panthers.

Can you believe it’s been 20 years since you graduated? Call your old friends and make sure they meet you at the special 20th Reunion tailgate. Wow!  Time sure has flown since 2007!  It’s been 10 years since you walked across that commencement stage with diploma in hand!  Do you know where your roommate is? Who’s married? Who has kids? The Ferrum College Equestrian program is growing and garnering recognition regionally! Under the guidance of coach Margaret Johnson Cornwell ’02 five members of last year’s team advanced to the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Regionals! Join riders, families, and former members of the Ferrum College riding program at the tailgate site on Bassett Field to learn more about the progress and our partnership with Healing Strides of VA, the therapeutic riding program in Boones Mill.  They will have a breakfast at Healing Strides earlier in the morning.  All are welcome to attend.

Ever wonder what it feels like to fly through the air? Our experienced Ferrum Outdoors staff will provide two different trips to the Ferrum Rope Course so you can experience the thrill of zip-lining at Ferrum College. This is a weather dependent event and registered individuals will receive more detailed instructions. If you have

Football is the anchor of the Homecoming weekend! Students and their families, faculty and staff – Help fill the stands and cheer for Head Coach Rob Grande and the Panthers as they take on Huntingdon College in this year’s Homecoming match up. Half-time presentations will include the presentation of the Homecoming King and Queen and the court. Don’t forget to wear your black and gold and share your Panther spirit!

DISC GOLF

Disc Golf is available on the course at Ferrum College near the Ferrum YMCA.  Play 18 holes and see who is best at this activity.  Play once or several times throughout the weekend.  Provide your own disc or they are for sale in the bookstore.  For more information, contact our Ferrum Outdoors Staff at 540-365-4324.

FISHING IN ADAMS LAKE

Provide your own equipment.  Catch and release required.  No fishing license is needed on Ferrum’s campus.
