Celebrating its 27th year, this annual fund-raiser for the Panther Club (all Ferrum College sports programs) is our most popular tournament of the year! Entry fee will be all inclusive and include cart and greens fees, mulligan, raffle ticket, tournament goodie bag, and post tournament awards ceremony. Registration is required; and you can register as an individual or team.  All awards will be distributed at the post tournament award ceremony. The tournament fills up fast, so register as soon as possible to ensure your place on the roster.

MEN'S SOCCER GAME

Ferrum Panthers and Coach Edna Crehan take on Hampden-Sydney in this year’s drive to a winning season!  Join alumni, students and families and support our men’s soccer team.  Don’t forget to wear your Black and Gold and show your Panther Pride.

FERRUM FAMILY FESTIVAL

A festival for everyone! Bring your chairs and blankets and enjoy live music, amazing food from food truck vendors, all sorts of family entertainment including special children’s events like face painting, balloon artists, a bouncy house, games and much more.  Don’t miss the Homecoming parade — cheer on athletic teams, student organizations’ floats and Alumni Award recipients.  A great way to kick off the weekend and be a part of the Ferrum Homecoming tradition!

TWIN CREEKS STRINGBAND

5:15 – 6:30 pm • Hart International Plaza Stage

The Twin Creeks Stringband, one of Southwest Virginia’s finest old-time bands, has a particularly driving beat that is irresistible to dancers, and they are popular performers at the Blue Ridge Folklife Festival, the Carter Family Fold, HoustonFest, the Blue Ridge Music Center, The Floyd Country Store, as well as at the Galax Old Fiddlers’ Convention.  The band is composed of:  Jared Boyd, who has won many claw-hammer banjo competitions; his dad Stacy Boyd on upright bass; Jason Hambrick on guitar and vocals; and Chris Prillaman on fiddle.

THE BLUE CRAWDADS

7:00-8:30 pm • Hart International Plaza Stage

The Blue Crawdads prove that getting the blues can be an awful lot of fun. The Kentucky-based band brings a unique mix of high energy blues, roots, and rock & roll to the stage, performing original music as well as covers of blues and rock artists ranging from Blind Willie McTell to Muddy Waters to Morphine. Guitarists Derryl Harper and Andy Messer have worked together in eclectic bands including Seventh Hour, the Horizontal Blues Band, and Jim Garrett & The Unworried Minds. Bassist Jesse Barton got his start in a rock cover band called The Management, and currently plays bluegrass with The Davis Benders and a variety of musical genres with David Bowlin & Miles Ahead. Born in Washington, D.C., drummer Keith Greene has been a lifelong musician, playing for the Go-Go band High Energy, Christian rock group SEED, R&B artist Donnell Dantzler, singer-songwriter Jeff Zitrain, Black Repertory Theatre in Berkeley, California, and blues rock artist Sunny Gunn. The Blue Crawdads have recently released their first EP, Bluefield.

You must stay for Inauguration/Homecoming/Family Day Festival fireworks!  This special finale over Adams Lake will be viewed best from the Hart Plaza area. When the homecoming court announcements end, just sit back and enjoy the show!

Move down from the music and fireworks and roast your own marshmallows for the sweetest way to close out the night before Homecoming festivities!

AGRICULTURE CLUB REUNION BREAKFAST

Gather for a real Southern-style breakfast at the farm! Meet with former classmates and professors and get the latest scoop on Agricultural and Environmental programs. All current AG and ES students are welcome to bring their families!

VISIT THE BLUE RIDGE INSTITUTE AND FARM MUSEUM

Visit the Blue Ridge Institute & Farm Museum and check out the new exhibit Old Ways, New Look: Hand Skills in Transition along with the permanent exhibit The Crooked Road.   The BRI is the State Center for Blue Ridge Folklore and features a living history nineteenth century farm complete with period animals and gardens.

GOLDEN PANTHERS ANNUAL FALL CELEBRATION & INDUCTION OF THE 50th REUNION CLASS OF 1968

FERRUM OUTDOORS ZIP-LINING EXPERIENCE

12:00 pm -1:30 pm • John Wesley Hall Parking Lot

Ever wonder what it feels like to fly thru the air?  Our experienced Ferrum Outdoors staff will provide two different trips to the Ferrum Rope Course so you can experience the thrill of zip-lining at Ferrum College.  RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED AND SPACE IS LIMITED.  You will return in time to attend the football game.   If you are interested please register on the following website- www.ferrumoutdoors.eventbrite.com.  The cost is $5 per person and it is non-refundable.  This is a weather dependent event and registered individuals will receive more detailed instructions.  If you have questions, call Ferrum Outdoors Director, Aaron Conover at 540-365-4324.

HOMECOMING TAILGATES

12:00 Noon – 4:00 pm • Bassett Field, between Bassett Hall and Swartz Gym

Everyone is welcome! Plan to arrive early to claim your space! Bring your own picnic – but definitely gather your friends and family and don’t forget your cooler and an awning. Celebrate Homecoming with a traditional tailgate including food, fun, and catching up with classmates and former professors. We’ll supply the space, a children’s entertainment area, a photo booth, music, and lots more!

Once again student groups, fraternities, and organizations will be competing for “The Most Spirited Panther” trophy. Don’t forget to visit their tents and vote on your favorite!

1968 NATIONAL FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM 50th REUNION

Yes, it’s been 50 years since the team beat top-ranked Phoenix Junior College for the National Junior College Athletic Association championship! Hard to believe? Football is the anchor of the Homecoming weekend! Students and their families, faculty and staff – Help fill the stands and cheer for Head Coach Rob Grande and the Panthers as they take on Washington and Lee University in this year’s Homecoming match up. Half-time presentations will include the presentation of the Homecoming King and Queen and the court. Don’t forget to wear your black and gold and share your Panther spirit!

WORSHIP SERVICE

All alumni are invited to join the congregation of Saint James United Methodist for Sunday worship.

DISC GOLF

Disc Golf is available on the course at Ferrum College near the Ferrum YMCA.  Play 18 holes and see who is best at this activity.  Play once or several times throughout the weekend.  Provide your own disc or they are for sale in the bookstore.  For more information, contact our Ferrum Outdoors Staff at 540-365-4324.
