Applying for Readmission

General Readmission Conditions and Requirements:

Former Ferrum College students who have not enrolled at the College for a semester or more may apply for readmission. Interested students should submit a request for readmission and subsequently be cleared by the Registrar's Office, Student Accounts, Student Affairs and the Dean's Office. Students must provide official transcripts if they have taken any courses at another institution since leaving Ferrum.

Students must resolve any outstanding financial obligations before their request for readmission to the College can be processed. Students should contact the Students Accounts office at (540) 365-4239 if they are aware of any financial problems in this regard.

Readmission Process:

1.  Former Ferrum students seeking readmission should write to the Director of Admissions informing us of the following: why the student left Ferrum, what they have been involved in to date, and why they want to return. The student should also update and include all contact information. Request for readmission may be emailed to Shannon Peters at speters@ferrum.edu; faxed to (540) 365-4243; or mailed to:

  • Ferrum College
  • Admissions Office
  • P.O. Box 1000
  • Ferrum, VA  24088

2.    Readmission petitions from students who left on academic probation or suspension will be reviewed by the Offices of Registrar and Provost.  Full-time students who leave the College must be readmitted within six calendar years of their original date of entrance in order to be governed by the requirement of their original catalog.  If the six-year period is exceeded at the time of readmission, the students will be subject to the approval of the Registrar.

For more information about readmission to Ferrum College, contact Shannon Peters at 1-800-868-9797.
