Connection Weekend for Fall 2014 will take place from Thursday, August 28 - Sunday, August 31, 2014.  The information below will be updated soon to reflect the activities for this fall's Connection Weekend.  Check back again later for more details!


Thursday, August 29 to September 1, 2013

You will receive a more detailed schedule when you arrive Thursday. New students transferring 24 or more credit hours will have a special "Transfer Student" schedule upon arrival.

The Connection and the Six Challenges

What are the challenges of the Weekend? By popular demand the Bonding Challenge is the first challenge. Get to know your fellow students in the Freshmen Class or your fellow transfer students in this popular event. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday your Connection Group will join half of the new students on either the Black Team or the Gold Team. Your team will rotate through the challenges over the Connection Weekend.

* 1. Bonding Challenge – Playfair in the Ferrum YMCA, Playfair is one of the most popular college orientation programs in the nation. Get to know your fellow students in the Freshmen Class or your fellow transfer students during this popular event.

* 2. The Dean's Challenge- A program designed to jump-start your transition to college life – academically and socially. You will also take the Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory which can help you confirm your decision about a major or a career goal.

* 3. The Competition Challenge – Learn some cool stuff about campus and compete for prizes with your Gateway Group in this fun filled challenge!

* 4. Love n' Liquor Challenge - A humorous look at a serious subject. This program will engage you with outstanding information about college decision-making issues. The presenter has been featured at colleges and universities all over the country.

* 5. Decisions, Choices, Decisions, Choices Challenge – Life is full of choices and making decisions that can impact your life. This programs provides a little help from your new Ferrum Friends.

* 6. Life at Ferrum Challenge – The Ferrum O-Team presents several skits which will prepare you for life as a Ferrum College student. The presentation includes important academic and college resource information and an edgy video tour of Franklin County. You will also take part in the CIRP National Survey.
