Harry Potter and the Scrupulous Editor

Project Description:

Students interested in Harry Potter, literature, writing, editing, and research.

Two Ferrum faculty members are preparing a manuscript called Harry Potter: Critical Insights, contracted with Grey House Press.  Students selected for this project will assist one of the volume editors with fact-checking, bibliography, and indexing contributions by an international group of scholars.

Lana Whited

Lana Whited, Ph.D.

Dr. Lana Whited is professor of English and Director of the Boone Honors Program at Ferrum College.  An internationally recognized authority on the Harry Potter series, Dr. Whited is editor of the first published collection of academic essays on Harry Potter, The Ivory Tower and Harry Potter: Perspectives on a Literary Phenomenon (University of Missouri, 2002). She also teaches courses in journalism and writing, including advanced prose writing, and has published widely on true-crime novels, American literary naturalism, and Appalachian literature.
