Freshman Scholars Program 2014

Origami Design

Instructor:  Bryan Faulkner, Ph.D

Project Description:

Students interested in "Origami Design" will likely have experience building or creating using their hands.  The activities included in this project will require dexterity and patience.

Students participating in this project will learn basic origami models along with methods of paper folding which allow angle trisection and quintisection.  The basic origami models will be traditional in the sense that we will begin with a single piece of polygonal shaped paper, making sharp straight-line creases, and we will not allow any cutting.  Freely available diagrams of many basic origami models can be seen at http://www.origami.org/.
