My name is Alyssa Walden, and I currently reside in Stafford County, Va.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ferrum in Spring 2008 with a B.A. in English and a minor in journalism.  While at Ferrum, I worked on The Iron Blade, serving as sports editor for a year and then editor-in-chief for two years.  I was also captain of the dance team, a member of the Communications Board, and a student representative to the Boone Honors Program Steering Committee. My time at Ferrum was way too short, and I miss the community dearly.

After leaving Ferrum, I earned an M.S. in Mass Communication with a focus on multimedia journalism at Virginia Commonwealth University. While at VCU, I had the opportunity to complete a Marketing and Public Relations internship with the United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg.   I am currently employed by Virginia Cooperative Extension, an educational outreach program of Virginia’s land-grand universities (Virginia Tech and Virginia State University).  I work as an Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development and deliver hands-on, research-based programs to youth between the ages of 5 and 19.
