Outdoor Recreation

Use of the natural environment is an integral part of the curriculum and is supported by the Ferrum Outdoors program. By providing opportunities for the student body to participate in adventure pursuits, Ferrum Outdoors affords the Outdoor Recreation minor the opportunity to develop, implement and evaluate programs while gaining valuable technical and leadership skills.

Required Courses

   REC 325 Wilderness Leadership 1
   REC 343 Facilitation of Adventure Pursuits 1
   *REC 350 Risk Management, Safety, and Legal Issues in Recreation Administration 1
   *REC 360 Recreation Leadership Theory and Philosophy 3
   REC 361 Outdoor Education 3
