History

About the program
The history major focuses on American, European, and world history and includes faculty who specialize in African, Latin American, and Asian history. While providing a broad base of knowledge, the history program seeks especially to develop student skills in information collection and analysis, critical interpretation, and effective written communication.

The curriculum incorporates a variety of topics to prepare students for opportunities in the field of History and includes courses such as:

Recent History program graduates & their careers
Michael Huff '93 is a Unit Chief, level GS-15, with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Chuck Westmoreland '97 recently received a Ph.D. in history from the University of Mississippi.
Several Ferrum College graduates are currently teaching in many different school districts.
