Manager of Subway

Ferrum College has an immediate opening for a manager to assume responsibility for all functions of our Subway food venue, serving our student and employee population, as well as the public.  This manager will deliver high quality products and customer service to ensure restaurant success by being a self-sufficient and professional leader, making quality decisions, and instilling pride and accountability in team members.  Responsibilities include the management of all unit operations while executing all College and Subway policies, procedures, programs and systems. This position ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws, including health codes, and ethical business practices.   

This is a full time, 40-hour per week, non-exempt position requiring varying work schedules, including evenings, weekends and holidays.  The successful candidate will be very reliable and have excellent managerial skills to ensure successful operation.  Must have strong communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain a strong and successful team.  Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds frequently. 

A high school diploma is required, as is a stable employment history and 3-5 years’ successful restaurant management experience.  Preference will be given to applicants with previous Subway experience.  Must have excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office products and point-of-sale systems.  A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required.

Office Manager, Academic Support Services

Ferrum College is seeking a full-time Office Manager with computer software expertise in word processing, creating and managing spreadsheets and databases, publishing web pages, working a with a file server and administrative systems.  Additionally the applicant should be efficient with time management, able to multi-task, be flexible in the work environment, able to supervise work-study students, possess effective oral and written communication skills and demonstrate talent for positive interaction with students, parents, faculty and staff.

Head Athletic Trainer

Ferrum College is seeking applications for the position of Head Athletic Trainer. This is a full time, 12 month position. Ferrum College sponsors 14 intercollegiate athletics programs, which includes over 400 student-athletes. 

The Head Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing leadership to the sports medicine program at Ferrum, to include the prevention, evaluation, treatment, referral and rehabilitation of injuries/illnesses to student-athletes. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: assisting in the daily health care of student-athletes and the sports medicine facility operation; recording and maintaining appropriate medical records for treatment given; daily practice coverage and travel responsibilities of assigned sport(s); assisting in inventory and budget, and other miscellaneous job related duties as deemed necessary by the Director of Athletics. 

The Head Athletic Trainer currently supervises a professional staff of four, including three Assistant Athletic Trainers and one Insurance Coordinator.  Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. 

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree, BOC certification,Virginia Licensure, and CPR/AED certification. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree, Strength and Conditioning certification (i.e. CSCS, CES, PES, etc.), other pertinent certifications (i.e. ART, Graston Technique, etc.) membership in NATA, experience working in a coeducational collegiate environment with a minimum of two years experience as a certified athletic trainer.  The successful candidate should be well-organized and capable of working independently, and show the ability to effectively lead a staff of professionals and student trainers.  Effective verbal communications skills are essential.

Residence Hall Educator

12 Month, Live-In Position

Ferrum College is seeking candidates for a Residence Hall Educator (RHE) position. This enthusiastic professional self-starter will be live-in professional staff and will be responsible for a residential area that houses approximately 400-600 students. The RHE will supervise 8-14 undergraduate student staff members. The successful candidate will be mature, outgoing, enthusiastic, organized and will expect to be an active participant in campus life. Start date will be on or near July 15, 2014. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, community development, retention, Residence Assistant (RA) recruitment, programming, education, advising, supervision of student staff, conflict mediation and resolution, policy enforcement, review of judicial cases, on-call duties, and crisis intervention and response. 

Qualified candidates will possess the minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred), two to three years of prior graduate and/or professional residence life experience and a desire to work with college students.

Admissions Telecounselor

(16 Hours/Week)

 Ferrum College is seeking an Admissions Telecounselor to contact prospective students and to educate them about scholarship opportunities and other aspects of Ferrum College. The candidate will represent the College in a professional manner in all telecounseling and admissions activities and will accurately reflect and portray the mission of the College. 

The position reports to the Coordinator of Telecounseling and the Associate Dean of Admissions. Responsibilities include effectively communicating with prospective students about scholarship opportunities at Ferrum College, providing information about the college, accurately gathering and recording demographic and academic information from prospective students, conducting follow-up calls, and performing other telecounseling tasks as assigned. 

Minimum qualifications for this position are a High School Diploma, a professional telephone voice, and a strong work ethic. Food Court Team Members

Seasonal Production Technicians

Ferrum College has several immediate openings for dependable and conscientious Food Court Team Members to assist in the daily operations of our newest Food Court venue by providing excellent customer service, assisting with food preparation, clean-up, stocking, and all functions necessary for successful operation of a food venue. 

These are seasonal positions, averaging 19 hours or less per week, with varying work schedules including occasional holidays and weekends; and offering no paid benefits. Food service experience is preferred but will consider training candidates who have strong work ethic and are willing to learn. Applicants must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds frequently. The successful candidates be very reliable and will have good basic math skills, the knowledge and ability to operate a cash register and calculator, and basic computer skills. These positions require excellent customer service and communication skills; honesty, good work ethic, professional attitude and the ability to be a team player.

Dining Services Technician

10 Month Position

Ferrum College has an immediate opening for a dependable and conscientious Dining Services Technician to perform a variety of tasks including serving food, washing dishes, and maintaining the dining hall.  Prior experience in food service preferred.  

This is a full time, 40-hour week position, varying schedule with occasional holidays and possibly some overtime.  Applicants must be able to stand for long periods of time and must be able to lift 10-25 pounds frequently and 25-50 pounds occasionally.

Papa John's Assistant Manager

Ferrum College is seeking an outgoing, reliable, and responsible Papa John’s Assistant Manager.  Supervisory experience and excellent customer service skills are required. Responsibilities include supervising and training hourly staff as well as student employees, serving customers, operation of and closing out cash register. 

This is a full time, 12-month position, working 40 hours per week.  Weekend work and some overtime are required.   Managerial skills, specifically Papa John’s, and current Safe Serve Certification preferred.  Must be able to stand for long periods of time; must have full range of body motions; and must be able to occasionally lift & carry up to 50 pounds.
