Vice President for Finance & Administration

Ferrum College, located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwestern Virginia, invites applications for the position of Vice President for Finance and Administration. This Vice President reports directly to the President and serves as a key member of senior administration.

The successful candidate will bring to the College extensive experience in financial administration and management in a higher education environment; however, candidates from other areas of financial management will be given full consideration. The new VP for Finance and Administration will have a proven track record of strategic decision-making and leadership as well as knowledge of endowment management; facilities and information systems planning and management; risk management; debt management and budget development and management.

The Vice President will have impeccable integrity and the ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively with the Board, colleagues across the College, and external constituents at all levels to ensure the continuing success of the College and its students. Preference will be given to candidates with a Master's degree in a related field and/or a CPA and those with a minimum of five years of senior level experience in higher education or other not-for-profit organization.

Reference and Instruction Librarian

Ferrum College has an opening for a reference and instruction librarian to perform public service duties, including: reference, circulation, and information literacy instruction. This position is 20 hours/week for 15 weeks each semester. The successful candidate can choose one of the following work schedules: Monday through Thursday 9:00 AM-2:00 PM or Tuesday through Friday 10:00 AM-2:00 PM and Saturday 11:30 AM-3:30 PM.

The preferred candidate will have a MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited institution (those in final stages of a degree program will be considered), excellent communication and technology skills, and public service and instruction experience.

Review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Position will start in January 2015. Hourly wage is $18 an hour. No benefits are included with this position.

Director of Human Resources

Ferrum College is seeking to fill its position of Director of Human Resources. This position reports directly to the President of the College and has overall responsibility for all HR functions at this private, not-for-profit college. The Director of Human Resources collaborates with administration to develop, implement, and achieve the strategic goals of the college as they relate to its employees. Specific responsibilities include employee budgeting, recruiting, on-boarding/off-boarding, performance evaluations; compensation and benefits administration, including serving as the college's representative in benefits and other consortia; development, implementation and administration of HR policies, programs, and procedures; record-keeping; administration of leave plans, Workers Compensation, FMLA; training and workforce development; HRIS and CMS management; compliance with all employment-related and other federal and state laws and regulations, including serving as Title IX Deputy and as ADA/Section 504 Coordinator for the campus; and administration of the institution's student employment program.

Successful candidates will possess a BA/BS in HR or related field and 7+ years HR experience at progressively higher levels of responsibility with at least 3 years of management experience. PHR required; SPHR preferred. Legal/compliance experience helpful.
