Manager of Help Desk and Student Support

Ferrum College seeks qualified applicants for the position of Manager of Help Desk and Student Support.

The successful candidate will provide oversight of the Ferrum College Help Desk and the student employees. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, hiring training, supervising and evaluating all Help Desk personnel. Will ensure the professional collection, recording and resolution where applicable, of technology issues affecting students, faculty and staff at Ferrum College. Will provide support and inventory control for the cable television converters and cable modems for users. Provide written/oral reports as requested.

Must be able to work closely with students, faculty and staff and be a team player exhibiting organizational skills with keen attention to details. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is preferred. A+ or other hardware/software certification and IT management experience is preferred.

Head Softball Coach

Ferrum College is seeking a Head Softball Coach. The Panther softball program has been to NCAA Division III playoffs three times, and won five USA South Athletic Conference championships.

The qualified candidate is responsible for managing all aspects of the College's NCAA Division III softball program, as well as assigned administrative duties. The responsibilities of the position will include, but are not limited to:

• Coaching the softball team in a manner that is consistent with the educational mission of the College.
• Maintaining facilities, holding practice, budgeting, staff management, game-day management, monitoring student-athletes' academic progress, and working with campus constituents.
• Engaging in ethical and values-based coaching in order to develop the character and the skill of the College's student athletes.
• Possession of a thorough knowledge of the sport of softball, a sophisticated understanding of coaching strategies, and a demonstrated ability to enhance player development.
• Recruiting, to include the ability to identify and successfully recruit student athletes within the framework of the College guidelines and policies.
• Adherence to all institutional, USA South and NCAA rules and regulations.
• Working effectively with administrators, the support staff, and other coaches and programs within the Department of Athletics.

Minimum qualifications for this position include a Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree preferred), a successful background in coaching softball, preferably at the collegiate level, demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage team dynamics, strong organizational skills, game management, and recruiting.

Subway Assistant Manager

Ferrum College is seeking an outgoing, reliable, and responsible person to serve as Subway Assistant Manager. This position requires a professional attitude and the ability to promote and work in a team environment. Responsibilities include opening/closing the store, supervising student employees, assisting in schedule preparation, preparing food, ensuring excellent customer service, operating cash register and making deposits, assisting with product ordering, inventory control and required daily reporting.

This is a full-time, 12-month position, working 40 hours per week. Weekend work and some overtime are required.   Management experience is preferred. The ideal candidate must have basic math and computer skills, be familiar with Microsoft Office Software, be able to multi-task, and have excellent communication skills.

Seasonal Admissions Telecounselor

(16 Hours/Week: M-TH 5pm-9pm On Campus)

Ferrum College is seeking a Seasonal Admissions Telecounselor to contact prospective students and to educate them about the application and enrollment process, scholarship opportunities and other aspects of Ferrum College. This is a 12 month evening position, with potential for limited Saturday work, and the pay rate is $10.00 per hour. The candidate will respect the College in a professional manner in all telecounseling and admissions activities and will accurately reflect and portray the mission of the College.

The position reports to the Coordinator of Telecounseling and the Associate Dean of Admissions. Responsibilities include effectively communicating with prospective students about scholarship opportunities at Ferrum College, providing information about the college, accurately gathering and recording demographic and academic information from prospective students, conducting follow-up and applicant calls, and performing other telecounseling tasks as assigned.

HVAC/R Lead Mechanic &

HVAC/R Mechanic

Ferrum College is accepting applications for a full-time, 40-hour/week HVAC/Refrigeration Lead Mechanic and a full-time, 40-hour/week HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic to maintain, repair, fabricate and/or install heating, ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment for the facility which includes approximately 50 structures and numerous sports and related facilities.

Our HVAC/R Mechanics ensure high pressure, high temperature boilers and domestic water heaters are maintained in working order at all times. They are responsible for the setup and operation of campus wide energy management systems; heating and air systems throughout the facility including the refrigerated equipment located in Dining Services; preventive maintenance of the heating and air conditioning systems; working directly with contractors and vendors in major repairs or installation of new equipment; assisting in maintaining documentation including operational, repair, and preventive maintenance records, OEM manuals and drawings related to this trade. Must support other craft persons as required.

The Lead HVAC/R Mechanic will also direct and train lower level mechanics and trades people in all aspects of the task required to maintain proper operation and repairs of campus wide HVAC/R systems.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Position requires full range of body motion including reaching, stooping, kneeling, and climbing, working indoors and outdoors in all types of weather. Indoor work is primarily in mechanical spaces that are hot, cramped, and noisy. Work may be performed at ground level, on ladders, and scaffolding, and on roofs.

Qualifications: Must have a minimum of 5 years similar experience and EPA refrigerant certification. Certification in HVAC/R preferred.
