FACULTY POSITIONS 

Faculty appointments begin on August 15, 2015, except where noted otherwise. Assistant or Associate Professor in Mathematics

Ferrum College is seeking applications for a 9 month tenure-track, faculty position in Mathematics at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor starting August 15, 2017. The successful applicant will be required to teach courses from the full range of undergraduate math courses such as: intermediate algebra, finite mathematics, introductory statistics, and pre-calculus.  The teaching load is 12 credits (normally four classes) per semester and the majority of the teaching load will be in the service courses listed above.  A specialty area that complements inter-disciplinary study within the college (e.g. biostatistics, actuarial science) would be an advantage.  In order of importance, the successful applicant will be expected to be a dedicated teacher, engage in campus and local service, and maintain an active research program.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Mathematics or math Education preferred.  Candidates with a Master’s degree in Math and a Ph.D. in a math-intensive area will also be considered.  Undergraduate teaching experience is preferred.  ABD applicants will be considered if the Ph.D. will be conferred by August 2017.

History - Assistant Professor

Ferrum College is accepting applications for a tenure-track, full-time Assistant Professor of American History to begin fall 2017, chronological and geographic focus open. We seek a broadly trained U.S. historian to teach survey courses over the range of American History, as well as upper division courses for history and social studies majors.  Preference will be given to candidates who envision US history in a broader global context, as well as those who have additional foci in Appalachian history, African-American history, Latin American History, or Russia/The Soviet Union/Eurasia.  PhD by August, 2017.  4/4 teaching load, with optional experiential May term.
