Purpose
The Ferrum Nature Society (FNS) is an informal organization whose sole
purpose is to bring together students, faculty and staff of Ferrum College,
as well as members of the local community, who are interested in enjoying
and studying natural history.

The Ferrum Tree Trail
The Ferrum tree trail extends from Chapman Pond
to the Stables. Many common tree species are marked along the trail.

Events
Events will include such activities as morning bird watching on the
Ferrum campus, meteor shower watching and star gazing, wildflower hikes,
salamander hunts, and mushroom foraging. Members may also wish to organize
research activities, construct campus nature trails, maintain campus
bird feeders, or work on wildlife habitat improvement projects.
Newsletter
The newsletter will provide information on upcoming
FNS events, sightings of interesting animals and plants, feature articles,
and a description of natural events that will occur during the month.
Membership
To join the Ferrum Nature Society (FNS), simply send an e-mail stating
your interest to Dr. Todd Fredericksen (tfredericksen@ferrum.edu).
You will receive a monthly newsletter via e-mail, as well notices of
special FNS events.
Business
Meetings, Obligations, and Dues
There are none. Attend the events that interest you and participate
at whatever level you desire.
