Weather-related Information Regarding Hurricane Sandy
With a high wind warning in effect for the Roanoke Valley and the possibility of power outages, Ferrum College students, faculty, and staff are advised to fully charge cell phones, laptops, and other electronic devices; remain indoors if winds become exceptionally high to avoid downed power lines, flying debris, and broken glass; and if there is a power outage, do not light candles.
Housing and Residence Life staff members and Campus Safety will relay important information as needed and notify students of any changes in operation resulting from weather conditions and power outages.
If you own a vehicle, please do not attempt to cross water in the roadways, and limit your travel accordingly. Hopefully each of you have a flashlight should it be needed. In the event of a power outage, please continue to utilize your safety and security practices, securing your room at all times to avoid potential thefts, which increase opportunistically during abnormal events such as power outages.
Call 365-4444 to report any emergencies. Safety is a personal choice, responsibility and most of all, a partnership with our officers and our students, faculty, and staff.
