Harvey Brookins to be Next Executive in Residence
The Market President and Business Banking Manager for Wells Fargo will address students and sit in on classes.
Ferrum, Va. (Feb. 13, 2012) – Ferrum College announced today that banking executive Harvey Brookins will serve as the next Executive in Residence for the College on Wed., Feb. 22, 2012. Brookins, who is based in Roanoke, is the Market President and Business Banking Manager for Wells Fargo.
“Today’s students want to hear from people who are in the business world, who have been there and achieved at a high level,” said Vice President for Institutional Advancement Kim Blair. “Harvey is one of those people.”
In addition to joining students in class, Brookins will give a keynote address, which is open to the public, at 11:15 a.m. in the Blue Ridge Mountain Room, in Franklin Hall.
Brookins joined Wells Fargo and moved to Virginia in 2006 after 13 years in retail and commercial banking in the Detroit, Mich. area. He attended the University of Detroit Mercy where he graduated with honors and also earned his Master’s degree. Brookins began his career in retail branch management and moved to commercial banking shortly thereafter.
The Executive in Residence initiative at Ferrum College brings the real world business experience of current and retired business professionals to campus. Guest executives tour campus, audit classes, interact with students and faculty and are asked to deliver a lecture sharing their personal experiences and philosophies. Speakers offer insight on the knowledge, skills and leadership qualities necessary for a successful business career.
