The SCAC Board of Directors unanimously voted to extend the invitation to the five schools. “The additions of Ferrum College, Greensboro College, Huntingdon College, Methodist University and Piedmont College will strengthen the sport of men’s lacrosse within our conference and reestablish our commitment to providing national championship access to our student-athletes,” said SCAC Commissioner Dwayne Hanberry.
“We are excited to be a part of the SCAC,” said Ferrum College Head Lacrosse Coach Mark Frey. “Our team now has an opportunity to compete for a Conference championship and our players to receive Conference recognition and awards, which will help our lacrosse program gain national recognition.”
Ferrum College began playing men's lacrosse in 2011. The Panthers are 12-17 combined in their first two seasons, 6-8 in 2011 and 6-9 in 2012.
