Ferrum College Hosts Fall Mid Atlantic Library Alliance Meeting
Nearly 20 librarians from the region learned about the role games can play in learning.
Ferrum, Va. (Nov. 12, 2012) – Earlier this month Ferrum College hosted Mid Atlantic Library Alliance (MALiA) members for their annual fall meeting, which was held in Stanley Library on campus. Nearly 20 librarians from the surrounding region came together on Thurs., Nov. 1, 2012 to learn about the role games can play in learning, especially among the millennial population. The featured speaker was Misti Smith, Emerging Technologies Librarian, at Mount Aloysius College in Pennsylvania.
“We were pleased to host this innovative and educational program on gaming in libraries on behalf of MALiA,” said Stanley Library Director Dr. Brandi Porter, who joined Smith during the presentation. “Ferrum College provided an ideal environment for our Organization to be able to exchange ideas and plan for future events.”
The Mid Atlantic Library Alliance, usually referred to as MALiA, is a consortium of over 150 public, academic, school, and special libraries from throughout Virginia as well as member institutions in northeastern Tennessee and North Carolina.
