Gold Medal awarded in the Multiple Concepts/Marketplace category.
Ferrum, Va. (May 8, 2012) – The National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) has awarded Ferrum College Dining Services a Gold Medal in the category of Multiple Concepts/Marketplace. This is the highest national distinction bestowed to a college or university by NACUFS. Entries are judged by dining services professionals and peers across the country.
“I am very proud of the individual efforts and team work ethic of our Dining Services staff who have driven Dining Services to be the best it can be,” said Mike Martin, director of Dining Services. “It is this collective spirit that has catapulted Ferrum to the forefront of the NACUFS organization.”
Included in the submission were menu variations, production records, food safety requirements, facility design, marketing, nutrition/wellness, customer service response, and pictures and information on the “wow” factors – the Hot Dog Cart, a campus favorite, and the Crazy Cuke food truck which serves freshly prepared wraps and other healthy options.
Martin thanked catering manager Alyson Seidel, Dining Services office manager Kim Allen and Food Court manager Wendi Major for compiling the award winning entry, noting the significant amount of time required to assemble and prepare the materials for submission.
“This recognition is very well deserved,” said Ferrum College president Jennifer Braaten. “Our students, faculty and staff have the opportunity every day to enjoy a wide variety of delicious, healthy eating options and we are delighted that Dining Services has received this prestigious honor.”
