Audubon International Executive Director Ryan Aylesworth to Speak at Ferrum College

Ferrum, Va. (February 28, 2013) – On Tues., March 5, 2013, Audubon International Executive Director Ryan Aylesworth will give a talk at Ferrum College on the role played by Audubon International in advancing sustainable development. He will also share details about his own education and career path as well as career opportunities within the organization he heads. Part of the series events on the campus programming theme, “Sustainability: More for Less, for All”, the presentation will take place from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. in the Garber Hall Auditorium.
As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, Audubon International (AI) uses environmental education and sustainability certification to help deliver effective natural resource management in all places people help the environment including where they live, work and play. One of the most significant AI contributions to sustainable development is its Sustainable Community Program. The program offers communities valuable planning processes and the opportunity to achieve certification, a valuable asset for economic development and for attracting progressive companies looking for locations that are able to balance social, economic, environmental concerns.
As executive director, Aylesworth is responsible for supervising and guiding the overall operation of AI, including the management, growth and development of all programs and activities. He holds a Master of Public Policy and Administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources from Cornell University. Prior to joining AI, Aylesworth served for three years as the Intergovernmental Affairs Liaison for the Midwest Region of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Ryan is also currently a Ph.D. candidate in Natural Resources Science and Management who is researching the nexus of environmental, sociopolitical and institutional systems at the University of Minnesota.
